Drive Adelaide Driving School offer a unique approach to our driver training and it is through our approach and our experience that we are able to work with drivers with disabilities to assist them in learning how to drive.
Below, potential drivers with a disability will find some basic information to help them get started. We always recommend that you come prepared with supporting documents from your doctor, surgeon and occupational therapist.
For young first time drivers with a disability, there is a good flow chart available from Novita Childrens Services which explains at a glance the order in which actions must be taken.
If you have or had a mental illness, you may consider or be eligible to gain a driving licence. Please consult your doctor and family, as gaining you licence would probably open up many new avenues and possibilities for you, family and friends.
Watch this inspiring story about a young girl who is overcoming obstacles. At the 9min 11 second point you see how Tim Arthur, and the modifications on our driving vehicle, have helped Katelin learn to drive and pass her driving test and achieve much deserved independence.
